From the renowned Lakshman Jhula of Rishikesh, the cave is located at a distance of 21 km and at a distance of 26 km from Rishikesh. One must add Mouni Gufa in one's checklist. The Cave is the wonder of nature and eclat of beauty! The way to the cave passes through a dense jungle repleted with peace and serenity. The jungle around the cave is generally referred to as Manikut Kajri Van. Also, the wonderful trek of about half an hour will make your way more exciting and interesting.
Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is on the top list of the trance and charm of the magical city of Rishikesh. It is among the most visited pilgrimage sites since ages. The temple is dedicated to "Devo Ke Dev - Mahadev", i.e., Lord Shiva. It is to be said that this is the site where Lord Shiva consumed the poison to save the whole universe from getting damage. Consuming the poison turned the throat of Shiva, blue and so he is known with the name, "Neel Kanth" (with Blue Throat).
